FOR JOINING US TODAY, WE HAVE OUR NEW REGENT ELECTS THAT ARE WITH US AS WELL, AND FOR

[00:00:09]

REGENTS, I'D LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND COMMITMENT TO CU.

I THINK THIS IS AT LEAST ON THE 16TH OF DECEMBER.

THIS IS OUR LAST PLANNED BOARD MEETING FOR THIS YEAR.

AND SO THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR TIME.

BEING THE LAST BOARD MEETING WE KNOW THAT 2020 HAS BEEN A CHALLENGING YEAR FOR A LOT OF REASONS.

AND THE MAIN REASONS IS THAT WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC AND WE HAVE THREE REGENTS THAT WILL BE REPLACING THREE REGENTS WHO WERE HERE AND OVERALL WITH 2020.

WE'VE REALLY DONE A GREAT JOB OF MAKING DECISIONS AND REPRESENTING THE UNIVERSITY AND STAYING HEALTHY DURING A CRISIS.

AND I THINK THAT PROBABLY WILL CONTINUE THIS CRISIS INTO THE NEXT YEAR.

BUT AT LEAST THERE'S SOME HOPE ON THE HORIZON WITH IT.

SO, AGAIN, THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO'S HERE, I WILL NOW CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER.

WILL YOU CALL ROLL, PLEASE? YES. REGENT CARSON.

HERE.

REGENT GANAHL. HERE.

REGENT GRIEGO. HERE.

REGENT HILL. HERE.

REGENT KROLL.

HERE.

REGENT SHARKEY. HERE.

REGENT SHOEMAKER.

HERE. REGENT SMITH.

HERE. CHAIR GALLEGOS.

HERE.

WE HAVE FOUR ITEMS IN OUR AND I THINK THAT YOU HAVE GOTTEN ALL OF THE INFORMATION.

I DON'T THINK THAT WILL BE VERY LONG ON THIS.

AT 12:45 WE DO HAVE THE PREPARATION FOR OUR FIRST INTERVIEW FOR OUR AUDIT SEARCH THAT WE'RE CONDUCTING. SO THAT'S KIND OF OUR TIMELINE.

I HAVE BEEN ASKED BY A COUPLE OF REGENTS IF WE COULD BE DONE IN PRETTY CLOSE 3:30 TO FOUR O'CLOCK TODAY. SO WE'LL USE THAT AS A TIMELINE.

AND IF WE HAVE TO GO LONGER THAN THAT, WE'LL FIGURE OUT THE GOOD REASONS FOR IT.

BUT I THINK THAT'S A GOOD TIMELINE FOR DOING WHAT WE NEED TO DO TODAY.

SO MOVING ON THE FIRST ITEM THAT WE WILL BE MOVING TOWARDS IS THE ELECTION OF UNIVERSITY TREASURER AND CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER, IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED.

SECOND. MOVED BY SHARKEY, SECONDED BY REGENT KROLL.

ALL IN FAVOR OF.

AYE.

SO WE HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND ANY DISCUSSION WITH REGARD TO THE ELECTION OF MR. TONY [INAUDIBLE] AND CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER? IF NOT, EFFIE, WILL YOU DO A ROLL CALL, PLEASE? SURE. REGENT CARSON.

AYE. REGENT GANAHL. AYE.

REGENT GRIEGO. AYE.

REGENT HILL. AYE.

REGENT KROLL.

AYE. REGENT SHARKEY.

AYE. REGENT SHOEMAKER.

AYE. REGENT SMITH.

AYE. AND CHAIR GALLEGOS.

AYE. THE MOTION PASSES AND WE WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME AND CONGRATULATE MR. WU ON JOINING THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO, AND I'D ESPECIALLY LIKE TO THANK OUR REGENT KROLL AND REGENT SHARKEY FOR LEADING THIS SEARCH.

THANKS A LOT. WITH THAT, WE'LL MOVE TO ITEM NUMBER TWO.

AND ITEM NUMBER TWO IS THE NEXT ITEM IS THE ELECTION OF THE INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT, UNIVERSITY COUNSEL AND SECRETARY OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS.

IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED.

[INAUDIBLE] SHOEMAKER WHO IS THE SECOND ON THAT.

I'LL SECOND IT.

YES, THANK YOU. WE HAVE A MOTION BY REGENT SHOEMAKER AND A SECOND BY REGENT GRIEGO TO ELECT MR. JEREMY HUETH AS INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT, UNIVERSITY COUNSEL AND SECRETARY TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS.

IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? IF I CAN MAKE A COMMENT, I WANT TO I WANT TO THANK JEREMY FOR HIS WILLINGNESS TO STEP IN

[00:05:03]

AT THIS TIME. WE'VE ALL BEEN THROUGH KIND OF A LOT OF TURMOIL.

IT'S BEEN A TUMULTUOUS TIME AND TUMULTUOUS TIME.

AND HAVING HAVING JEREMY STEP INTO THIS ROLE IS GIVES US, I THINK, A STRONG, SOLID FOUNDATION FOR OUR BOARD SECRETARY AND GENERAL COUNSEL.

WE NEED WE NEED THAT DURING THIS TIME ESPECIALLY.

AND IN MY WORK WITH JEREMY OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS, I AM CONFIDENT AND FEEL ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CONFIDENT THAT HE'S GOING TO DO A GREAT JOB FOR THIS BOARD OF REGENTS.

SO I WANT TO THANK YOU, JEREMY, FOR YOUR WILLINGNESS TO STEP IN AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

DO WE HAVE OTHER DISCUSSION ON THE MOTION? IF NOT, EFFIE, WILL YOU PLEASE CALL ROLL? YES, REGENT CARSON.

AYE. AND CHAIR GALLEGOS.

YES. MOTION PASSES JEREMY, CONGRATULATIONS.

WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR TIME WITH YOU AS WELL.

COULDN'T HAPPEN TO A BETTER GUY.

BEEN WITH THE UNIVERSITY FOR 17 YEARS HAVE WORKED WITH ALMOST ALL THE BOARD MEMBERS.

AND SO I THINK YOU COME WITH WITH GREAT FANFARE AND THE IDEA THAT YOU'LL HELP US CONSIDERABLY OVER THE NEXT, HOWEVER LONG TIME YOU'RE GOING TO BE WITH US AND MAYBE FOREVER. SO THANK YOU, JEREMY, AND CONGRATULATIONS.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONFIDENCE.

I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH EVERYONE.

AND MOVING ON TO THE NEXT ORDER OF BUSINESS.

THE REVOCATION OF THE HONORARY DOCTOR OF HUMANE LETTERS AWARDED TO FATHER CB WOODY WOODRICH IN 1986.

DO I HAVE A MOTION? SO MOVED.

SO MOVED BY REGENT SHARKEY.

SECOND BY REGENT KROLL.

SO WE HAVE A MOTION BY REGENT SHARKEY AND SECONDED BY REGENT KROLL TO REVOKE THE HONORARY DEGREE. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? CHAIR GALLEGOS, I'D LIKE TO MAKE A COMMENT IF I CAN.

IT'S REALLY A SAD AND UNFORTUNATE SITUATION FOR THE VICTIMS OF THIS HORRIFIC CRIME BY FATHER WOODY AND BY ANYONE.

AND THIS IS THE RIGHT THING, AS FAR AS I KNOW.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO HAS REVOKED AN HONORARY DEGREE.

WE'RE DOING IT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.

AND I HOPE THIS CAN BRING SOME AT LEAST A LITTLE SOLACE TO THE VICTIMS OF FATHER WOODY.

AND THAT'S THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

THANK YOU, REGENT SHARKEY.

OTHER DISCUSSION? EFFIE WILL YOU AGAIN CALL THE ROLL, PLEASE.

YES. REGENT CARSON.

YES. MOVING FORWARD, THE BOARD WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE AN OUTGOING MEMBER OF OUR TEAM, JOSE PADILLA AND LESLEY AND JOHN.

THE FLOOR IS YOURS AFTER WE READ, OUR RESOLUTION WE'LL BE VOTING ON IT.

AND SO I'LL CALL FOR A MOTION AND A SECOND AND WE'LL MOVE ON FROM THERE.

LESLEY, THANK YOU.

IT'S MY HONOR TO READ THIS RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO JOSE PADILLA.

WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA SERVED ADMIRABLY AND ABLY AS VICE PRESIDENT, UNIVERSITY COUNSEL AND SECRETARY, BOARD OF REGENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO.

AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA PROVIDED STEADY AND SEASONED PROFESSIONALISM AND GUIDANCE FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS, WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH BOARD MEMBERS AND BOARD STAFF, AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA SUCCESSFULLY ENGAGED THREE REGENTS, LEAVING THE BOARD AS THEIR TERMS EXPIRE TO LEARN FROM THEIR EXPERIENCES AND INFORM ORIENTATION OF THREE NEW

[00:10:01]

MEMBERS JOINING THE BOARD IN JANUARY, THEREBY ENSURING A SMOOTH TRANSITION OF THE TURNOVER OF ONE THIRD OF THE BOARD.

AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA ASSUMED HIS LEADERSHIP POSITION AT ONE OF THE MOMENTOUS TIMES IN THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO'S STORIED HISTORY DURING A WORLD WIDE PANDEMIC.

AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA WAS ONE OF THE LEADERS OF THE UNIVERSITY'S RESPONSE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, PROVIDING PRACTICAL ADVICE AND EXPERIENCED INSIGHT, AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA ALSO PROVIDED EXCELLENT COUNSEL BOTH FROM A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE AND A HUMAN ONE DURING TUMULTUOUS TIMES AT THE UNIVERSITY AND IN SOCIETY RELATED TO CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUES.

AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA HAS BEEN AN EXEMPLARY COLLEAGUE AND TRUSTED ADVISOR TO THE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT, CAMPUS CHANCELLORS AND HIS FELLOW VICE PRESIDENTS.

AND WHEREAS JOSE PADILLA LED AN EXCEPTIONAL TEAM OF ATTORNEYS AROUND THE CU SYSTEM AND ELEVATED ITS LEGAL CAPABILITIES, SERVING THE UNIVERSITY AND CAMPUSES EXTREMELY WELL, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOARD OF REGENTS THANKS THAT JOSE PADILLA, FOR HIS SERVICE, DEDICATION AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS, THE BOARD ALSO WISHES HIM ALL THE BEST AS HE TAKES ON THE PRESIDENCY OF VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY.

REGENT CARSON. THANK YOU.

WELL, JOSE, WE'RE GOING TO MISS YOU WERE A FABULOUS CHOICE TO BE OUR COUNSEL AND SECRETARY, BUT AS OFTEN HAPPENS WITH VERY TALENTED PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF, YOU YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED AN OPPORTUNITY YOU CAN'T TURN DOWN TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF A UNIVERSITY IN THIS COUNTRY. SO THAT'S A GREAT HONOR.

AND AND WE UNDERSTAND IT.

WISH YOU WELL.

SINCE YOU'VE BEEN HERE DURING THIS PANDEMIC, LIKE ALL THE REST OF US, AND DEALING WITH ALL THE ODDITIES SURROUNDING THAT THE BOARD OF REGENTS WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND TO YOU AND YOUR WIFE, HILDA, AN INVITATION TO RETURN TO THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO SOMETIME IN 2021 FOR A COMPLIMENTARY VISIT ON US TO JOIN THE REGENTS FOR AN ACTIVITY OR A UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO ATHLETIC EVENT. I THINK THE ATHLETIC EVENT OPTION SOUNDS A LOT MORE INTERESTING THAN THE ACTIVITY, BUT WE GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR SERVICE TO SEE YOU AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO CELEBRATING YOUR NEW POSITION WITH YOU IN PERSON WHEN IT'S SAFE FOR ALL OF US TO DO SO.

SO PLEASE CONSIDER THAT A PLACEHOLDER FOR A FUTURE WEEKEND HERE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO. AND THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR SERVICE.

THAT'S SIGNED BY THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO.

MR. CHAIRMAN, MAY I SPEAK? ABSOLUTELY. JOHN, LESLEY, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THIS IS WITH MIXED EMOTIONS, AS YOU KNOW, THIS IS SOMETHING I CAN'T PASS UP.

BY THE SAME TOKEN, I HAVE BENEFITED AND GAINED SO MUCH BY WORKING HERE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO SYSTEM. I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH MY COLLEAGUES AND THE SYSTEM OFFICE AND THE CHANCELLORS.

THEY ARE DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVANTS WHO SACRIFICE FOR THE GOOD OF THIS INSTITUTION.

I'M I HAVE TO SAY, OF COURSE, I HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR MY LAWYERS AND MY BOARD STAFF, LED BY JEREMY HUETH AND OUR MANAGING COUNSEL AT THE VARIOUS CAMPUSES.

EFFIE AMEEN HAS BEEN AN EXEMPLARY ASSISTANT SECRETARY WHO HAS MADE SURE THAT THE WHEELS, THE TRAIN RUNS ON TIME AND AND SHE'S A QUIET FORCE IN THAT OFFICE.

JEREMY WILL BE AN EXCEPTIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, UNIVERSITY COUNSEL AND SECRETARY WITH ALL HIS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE.

HE'S ALL IN FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO SYSTEM.

THE LASTLY, I WANT TO SAY, I WANT TO THANK THE BOARD FOR NOT ONLY THEIR PATIENCE WITH ME, BUT HUMORING ME AT TIMES AS I CURRENT LEARN TO NAVIGATE A PUBLIC BOARD OF REGENTS, WHICH WAS INTERESTING TO ME IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT WAYS.

BUT YOU WERE PATIENT WITH ME.

YOU HELPED ME TO SUCCEED.

I WANT TO THANK CHAIRMAN GALLEGOS FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND FOR HIM WORKING WITH ME AND MAKING ME BETTER. I WANT TO THANK VICE CHAIRMAN LESLEY SMITH, WHO OBVIOUSLY WILL HAS BEEN A STEADY FORCE AND ENSURE THAT GOOD POLICY IS MET AND THE BEST INTEREST OF THE UNIVERSITY ARE MET. AND I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR FORBEARANCE WITH ME AND NOT ONLY IN THIS

[00:15:02]

DECISION, BUT WHILE I WAS WORKING WITH YOU.

BUT AS I SAID BEFORE, I'M VERY TOUCHED BY THIS UNFORTUNATELY MY WIFE HILDA ISN'T HERE.

BUT WHEN I TELL HER ABOUT THIS, SHE'LL BE EQUALLY AS TOUCHED AS WELL.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I'M GOING TO A RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION, SO I PROBABLY CAN'T SAY I'M GOING TO PRAY FOR YOU, BUT MAYBE I CAN ASK THAT YOU GUYS PRAY FOR ME.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU JOSE. WE'RE GOING TO ENTERTAIN A MOTION AND A SECOND FOR A RESOLUTION AND THEN WE'LL TAKE SOME DISCUSSION IF WE JUST WANT TO ADD ANYTHING TO THAT.

SO DO I HAVE A MOTION FOR THE RESOLUTION FOR JOSE.

SO MOVED.

SO MOVED BY REGENT SMITH.

SECONDED BY.

SECOND. BY CHANCE HILL.

AND NOW WE CAN HAVE SOME DISCUSSION IF ANYBODY WOULD LIKE THE FLOOR.

GO FOR IT. I CAN JUMP IN CHAIR GALLEGOS.

JOSE I WANT TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR NEW POSITION.

THAT'S PRETTY EXCITING FOR YOU.

I CAN IMAGINE AND I WISH YOU WELL.

I WISH WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER IN PERSON.

YOU WERE JUMPED IN HERE AT A REALLY CHALLENGING TIME FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO, AS YOU WILL BE IN YOUR NEW POSITION.

IT SAYS A LOT ABOUT YOU.

YOU'RE A PRETTY TOUGH GUY, BUT YOU'RE GOING TO BRING A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE IN YOUR NEW JOB. AND I APPRECIATE THE WORK THAT YOU'VE DONE ON BEHALF OF THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO.

I'VE APPRECIATED WORKING WITH YOU ALSO ONE ON ONE OVER THESE MONTHS.

AND SO I WISH YOU WELL.

AND AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOU.

PRAY FOR YOU TO HAVE A SAFE JOURNEY HOME AND IN YOUR NEW ENDEAVOR.

THANK YOU, REGENT SHARKEY.

ANYONE ELSE? I'D LIKE TO JUMP IN, GLEN, THIS IS IRENE.

JOSE, I JUST I AM REALLY JUST SO HAPPY FOR YOU TO BE A PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE IN TODAY'S WORLD.

I THINK IT'S JUST AN AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT.

I WANT TO THANK YOU AND FOR TAKING THAT ON.

AND AND I'M REALLY JUST HAPPY FOR YOUR CAREER AND WHERE IT'S GOING AT THE SAME TIME.

IT'S BITTERSWEET BECAUSE I HAVE ENJOYED NOT ONLY ENJOYED, BUT APPRECIATED EVERYTHING THAT YOU BROUGHT TO US IN SUCH A SHORT TIME PERIOD.

I WAS AMAZED HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH ZOOM AND TEXTS AND TELEPHONE.

I REALLY FELT VERY CLOSELY CONNECTED TO YOU AND I FELT CONFIDENT IN YOU.

AND I JUST THOUGHT YOUR LEADERSHIP WAS OUTSTANDING.

AND I WAS JUST AMAZED HOW QUICKLY YOU'RE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT US, WORK WITH US AND PROVIDE US THE LEADERSHIP THAT WE NEEDED DURING THIS TIME PERIOD.

BUT AGAIN, I AM REALLY HAPPY FOR YOU.

CONGRATULATIONS, AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT FALL OR WHENEVER YOU COME BACK AND MEET YOUR WIFE. AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN HAVE SOME GOOD MEXICAN FOOD SOMEWHERE TOGETHER.

SO TAKE CARE.

THANK YOU. REGENT GRIEGO.

JUMP IN IF YOU WANT TO.

I'LL JUMP IN, JOSE.

YOU KNOW, I BECAME VICE CHAIR AND A NEW ROLE FOR ME ABOUT THE SAME TIME THAT YOU CAME, SO WE SORT OF BUMBLED ALONG IN SOME WAYS.

BUT, YOU KNOW, IT'S PRETTY AMAZING THAT WE DEVELOPED SUCH A GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP, HAVING NEVER SEEN EACH OTHER IN PERSON.

YOUR PHONE NUMBER IS ON MY SPEED DIAL, OR I GUESS I'M GOING TO HAVE TO GET JEREMY TO REPLACE THAT NUMBER THERE.

BUT, YOU KNOW, I'M VERY HAPPY FOR YOU.

I KNOW IT'S A GOOD CHALLENGE BEING AT THE NEW UNIVERSITY.

THE SMALLER PRIVATE SCHOOLS ARE STRUGGLING, BUT JUST SEEING THE CONNECTIONS AND HOW QUICKLY YOU CONNECTED WITH PEOPLE HERE IN A RATHER IMPERSONAL WAY, I'M SURE YOU'RE GOING TO STEP IN AND MAKE THOSE CONNECTIONS AND HOPEFULLY INCREASE DIVERSITY, AS THE BOARD WOULD LIKE TO DO AND MAKE SURE THAT IT'S ON GOOD FINANCIAL STABILITY.

AND I'M GOING TO MISS YOU, BUT I'M EXCITED FOR YOU, TOO.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. REGENT SMITH.

WELL, JOSE, I WISH YOU WELL ON YOUR JOURNEY, AND I WOULD BE REMISS TO REMIND EVERYBODY, TOO, THAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF SHIPPING SOME OF OUR CU DENVER SOUTH TAXIDERMY TO INDIANA, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

AND IF THE PRESIDENTIAL RESIDENCE THERE IS IN NEED OF A, YOU KNOW, A GATE KEEPER OR SOMETHING TO KEEP, YOU KNOW, THE THE NE'ER DO WELLS AT BAY.

BUT ALL JOKING ASIDE, WHAT A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU.

[00:20:05]

I'M VERY EXCITED FOR YOU.

I WE EXPECT GREAT THINGS AND WE'LL BE WATCHING FROM AFAR.

AND, YOU KNOW, JEREMY, WE ARE EXCITED TO HAVE YOU STEP IN AS WELL.

THANK YOU, REGENT KROLL. I'LL JUST SAY, SINCE JOSE HAS BEEN USING THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN LAW SCHOOL LIBRARY IS HIS BACKDROP FOR THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS, IF NOT MONTHS, I DECIDED TO WEAR MAIZE AND BLUE IN YOUR HONOR AS YOU ARE HEADING OFF INTO THE NEW ADVENTURES.

SO I WILL MISS YOU.

IT'S BEEN GREAT TO WORK WITH YOU.

GO BLUE. THANK YOU, MARK.

YOU BEAT ME TO IT MARK.

I WAS JUST GOING TO SAY CONGRATS AGAIN, JOSE AND AS A FELLOW MICHIGAN LAW MAN WHO CAN APPRECIATE THAT MICHIGAN LAW LIBRARY BACKDROP, GO BLUE AND BEST OF LUCK.

REGENT. I'M GOING TO BASICALLY I'M GOING TO BEQUEATH MY BACKDROP TO YOU IF THAT'S OK.

THAT PROBABLY WOULDN'T GO SO WELL POLITICALLY, BUT THANKS.

[LAUGHTER] HEY JOSE IT'S HEIDI. CONGRATULATIONS, I KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO DO A FANTASTIC JOB AND WE'RE GOING TO MISS YOU.

YOU'VE DONE A GREAT JOB IN THE TIME YOU'VE BEEN HERE.

SO THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP HERE.

THANK YOU REGENT GANAHL. ANY LAST SPEAKERS? PRESIDENT PADILLA.

THAT HAS A NICE RING TO IT.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THANKS FOR YOUR HELP OVER THE LAST SIX SEVEN MONTHS.

I THINK THAT LEONARD AND MARK MYSELF, YOU AND DIFFERENT REGENTS AT DIFFERENT TIMES ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT WE NAVIGATED IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS, SOME TOUGH STUFF. JOSE THANK YOU.

IT'S BEEN A GOOD, GOOD RIDE.

AND AGAIN, THE THINGS THAT YOU HELPED US NAVIGATE WERE BIG THINGS.

AND I DON'T THINK THAT THEY'LL END.

I THINK JEREMY WILL CERTAINLY BE IN THE MIDDLE OF SOME OF THOSE AS WELL.

BUT GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

AND MAYBE WHEN YOU GET BACK, WE'LL BE ABLE TO SMOKE THAT CIGAR AND DRINK THAT THAT GALLON OF TEQUILA THAT WE TALKED ABOUT AND NEVER GOT AROUND TO IT.

SO WITH THAT.

THANK YOU, MR. CHAIRMAN. YOU BET.

WE'RE PROBABLY READY TO TAKE A VOTE.

AND ALL IN FAVOR.

WE HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND AND ALL IN FAVOR.

SAY AYE.

AYE. OPPOSED.

ALL RIGHT, JOSE, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US. THANK YOU.

UNLESS THERE'S OTHER COMMENTS, QUESTIONS BY REGENTS.

THAT KIND OF BRINGS US TO THE END OF OUR OPEN SESSION.

AND AGAIN, I WOULD THANK REGENTS' FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE AND YOUR TIME AND YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO.

JOHN CARSON, LINDA SHOEMAKER AND IRENE GRIEGO, THANK YOU AS WELL.

AND THIS KIND OF IS FAREWELL FOR US.

SO IF YOU WANT TO SAY SOMETHING, YOU HAVE WE HAVE A FEW MINUTES TO DO THAT.

AND IF NOT, WE'LL ADJOURN AND COME BACK AT 12:45.

WELL, IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE.

I JUST WANT TO SAY I FEEL LIKE WE'RE IN THE U.S.

SENATE OR SOMETHING WITH ALL THESE LAME DUCK MEETINGS.

BUT IF YOU SAY THIS IS REALLY THE LAST ONE, I'LL BID FAREWELL AND WE'LL ALL KEEP IN TOUCH AND MAYBE WE'LL HAVE A NICE GATHERING THIS SUMMER SOMETIME.

SO THANKS A LOT AND GOOD LUCK AS YOU GUIDE THE UNIVERSITY INTO 2021.

I JUST WANT TO SAY DITTO TO WHAT JOHN SAID.

I COULDN'T SAY IT ANY BETTER.

IT HAS REALLY BEEN AN HONOR TO BE ON THIS BOARD.

PART OF ME IS KIND OF EXCITED TO HAVE TIME TO EXPLORE DIFFERENT THINGS.

AND THE OTHER SIDE IS IS REALLY SAD THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO BE PART OF IT.

AT THE SAME TIME, THE FRIENDSHIPS THAT HAVE COME ALONG WITH BEING A BOARD OF REGENTS ARE JUST AMAZING.

AND I BELIEVE WE'LL ALWAYS BE FRIENDS.

SO I'LL ENJOY GOING TO THOSE FOOTBALL GAMES AND MEETING AGAIN MAYBE THIS SUMMER AND SEEING EVERYONE AGAIN.

I ALSO BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO THANK THE OFFICE STAFF AT ONE OF OUR LAST MEETINGS. I WANTED TO THANK THEM, YOU KNOW, MARK AND CARRIE AND EFFIE AND, YOU KNOW, EVERYONE GOING BACK TO CHERYL AND AMY, AMANDA, I MEAN, THEY WERE JUST GREAT, JUST SO GREAT TO WORK WITH.

AND AND I REALLY APPRECIATED THE TRANSITION THEY MADE WITH JOSE AND WILL WITH JEREMY.

AND THEY JUST HELPED ME SO MUCH IN EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE DONE FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS NOW.

[00:25:02]

BUT I'LL MISS ALL OF YOU.

I'LL EVEN MISS THE DISTRESS I RECEIVED REGARDING DECISION MAKING AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

BUT I WILL BE I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU IF YOU NEED ME.

AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING A REGENT EMERITUS AND BEING ABLE TO STAY IN CONTACT WITH YOU IN ANY WAY THAT REGENT EMERITUS CAN.

SO BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU.

AND I ECHO WHAT JOHN AND IRENE JUST SAID, IT FEELS VERY KIND OF ANTICLIMACTIC AND STRANGE TO BE ENDING OUR TIME ON THE BOARD WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SOCIALIZE AND HUG EACH OTHER AND SAY SAY GOODBYE IN A MORE NORMAL LIFE.

THESE ARE NOT NORMAL TIMES.

AND THE NEW REGENTS HAVE HUGE CHALLENGES AHEAD OF YOU.

I THINK ABOUT HOW DIFFICULT IT'S GOING TO BE FOR YOU TO GET TO KNOW PEOPLE AT THE SYSTEM LEVEL ON ZOOM OVER HOWEVER MANY MORE MONTHS WE HAVE TO LIVE THIS WAY.

SO ANYTHING THAT WE CAN DO, IRENE AND I AND JOHN, I'M SURE WE'D BE WILLING TO HELP YOU IN ANY WAY THAT WE CAN.

I'M HOPING PERSONALLY TO SPEND A LOT MORE TIME IN LAGUNA BEACH.

AND I TOOK THIS PICTURE THERE LAST WINTER, IT LOOKS LIKE, WHERE THE SUN IS SETTING, ALTHOUGH I CAN'T GO OUT NOW, OF COURSE, BUT I WILL BE HERE VIA ZOOM, AS LONG AS YOU NEED ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE AT THE SYSTEM, TO THE CHANCELLORS.

I DO THINK THAT WE HAVE EXCELLENT PEOPLE IN PLACE AND WE CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO HIRE EXCELLENT PEOPLE EVEN DURING THIS PANDEMIC, WHICH SPEAKS VERY HIGHLY OF THE UNIVERSITY.

SO THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK.

THANKS, GUYS. SPECIAL THANKS TO [INAUDIBLE] AND EFFIE FOR THAT RESOLUTION AND THE WORK THAT WENT ALONG WITH THAT.

SO THANKS FOR THAT.

AND ALSO, IRENE, YOU'RE RIGHT, THE BOARD STAFF IS PRETTY GOOD.

AND SO THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THEM UP.

AND I WOULD SECOND THAT AS WELL.

WITH THAT. WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE BUSINESS, SO WE WILL SEE YOU.

[B. 12:45 p.m. EXECUTIVE SESSION - AUDITOR SEARCH]

HOW ABOUT IF WE TRY TO.

IT'S 12.

12:29 NOW, IF WE READY TO BE IN OUR SEATS AND READY TO START WITH FELICITY AT 12:45.

THANK YOU. SEE YOU IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES.
